OBJECTIVES: Offer the customers a complete professional care for antique furniture and wooden objects, equivalent to the standards of the level of quality practiced in Museum Conservation and Restoration treatments.

Technical Skills:

Knowledge of modern and antique construction and decoration techniques used in furniture;
Knowledge on contemporary conservation treatments and products;
Use of manual and power woodworking tools; wood joinery; wood turning; wood carving; wood finishing.

Assistant Conservator in the Spanish Ceiling Project for the Islamic Galleries of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Brief collaboration as Assistant Conservator on the projects Wrightsman Galleries for French Decorative Arts, and Wisteria Room for 19th and 20th century Galleries, both at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.


2004 – 2006

Collaboration as a Conservator of Panel Paintings in the Portuguese Institute of Conservation and Restoration of Lisbon, in the project of the European P.O.C. program, for the study and conservation of 19 panel paintings from the 16th century belonging to the “Retable of the Museum of Évora”.

2002 – 2004

Collaboration as a Conservator of Panel Paintings in the I.P.C.R. through a P.O.C. program, for the study study and conservation of the following projects:
  • Retable of the 16th century composed by 8 paintings from the church of “Igreja da Misericórdia de Ferreira do Alentejo” in Beja, Alentejo, Portugal. 
  • 5 Wood panel paintings from the “Charola do Convento de Cristo”, Tomar, Portugal. 
  • Structure of an 18th century Stable of the Machado de Castro’s Portuguese Sculpture Workshop, at the sacristy of the Basílica da Estrela, Lisbon. 

1999 – 2003
Teacher of the discipline “Technology of the Behavior of Materials for the area of Wood and Furniture” at the Professional School of Patrimonial Recuperation, , in Sintra, Portugal.

1993 – 2002

Conservation and Restoration of numerous pieces of National Patrimonial furniture, private and public:
  • 17th century Retable from the church of Ulgueira, in Malveira da Serra, Sintra (1993/1995). 
  • Furniture pieces from the National Museum of Queluz and the National Museum of Mafra (1994/1995). 
  • Retable-Mor from the church of  N. Sra. da Saúde - Convent of Quinta da Penha Longa, Sintra – intervention made on school level as Proof of Professional Adaptation (P.A.P.) and as a personal level in a team (1995/1996). 
  • Oak pulpit from the 16th century, which belongs to the National Museum Soares dos Reis, Porto (2000/2002). 


  

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

2002, March
Completed the Master's degree completed in Conservation and Restoration – Area of Furniture, at the “Escola Superior de Conservação e Restauro”.

1993-1996        

Three year technical course at the school of “Escola Professional de Recuperation do Património” (E.P.R.P.), in Cacém, Lisbon, where I graduated with a degree of Patrimonial Recuperation Technician in the area of Woods.
